Reel to grip methodsYou can see in the pic below I use rubber bands to hold the reel while taping. That rod has two rubber bands on it because I didn't know if I was gonna like that reel on that rod. However, when mounting a reel with Tommy Tape I will rubber band the back of the reel, and tape the front first. Then remove the rubber band and tape the back. Very simple process! I cut a piece ...
The reel is slightly on the smaller side and that is the reason for liking it. It has less weight and therefore, I can detect a lighter bite. Obviously the reel doesn't have the line capacity but I'm not fishing for Northerns or Musky. Walleye don't tend to make long runs. And if I do hook a longer running fish, I still have plenty of line to ...
The long stem just seemed to make the combo too big if that makes sense, that reel sticking out so far just got in the way. I fish with gloves a lot, but thinner gloves so I personally don't have a need for the long stem.
Winter Reel ServicesJust wondering what peoples experience with this is? They received my reel on 1/7 but I have not heard a word from them. Not that I am in a rush, but if I was, could I depend on this service? 30-45 day turn around wouldn't work out too well in the middle of the ...
My buddy showed me his new "rattle reel". He took an old fishing line plastic dispenser put nuts in the open end. Then put a piece of cardboard on the open end so the nuts can't fall out. He then mounted it in his shack above his jig hole. It rattles when the line starts reeling. Logged
Unfortunately they discontinued that combo, but it's basically the same reel as the lower end 13 Fishing Free Fall reels still on the market. I love the trigger.
Baitfeeder spin reelI have a bunch of old okuma avenger abf for catfish and carp, the ceymar seems to be the next step up. Never had a problem with either other than the anti reverse can be goofy if they go for a swim Logged Print Pages: [1] | Go Up IceShanty.com's Ice Fishing Community » Ice Fishing Tips -Check your local regulations! » Equipment (Moderator: Bean) » Baitfeeder spin reel
Love my non-hook setting, original foolers for dead sticking with a 500 series baitfeeder reel on a Jason Mitchell meat stick. They pack down wonderfully. I would highly recommend their hole covers as well. The only issue I have with them, as with any tip-up, is that they are great for live bait presentations, but not so much for anything else.
